These are good noises coming from Mike Ashley. I think its was past due and hopefully he is a man of his word?

He strikes as a man who will get things done whatever it takes and I believe this is something we need. Shepherd, Fletcher et al always appeared to be in it for the money/prestige. Sure he put alot of money in, but what did we lose overall? Certainly our direction after a series of piss poor managers making piss-poor decisions.

A firm hand to steady the ship and a sense of direction are most welcome. Lets just see if he match his words with the appropriate actions?

i would think it can only be a good thing if a bloke who has made 2 billion quid out of nothing decides its time to give the club a bit more attention. i think mort is doing a fine job anyway but big mike is the main man and maybe he needs to just give the club a push to get us going again. saying that i always think you need a bit of luck as well as judgment when it comes to appointing a new manager as - at the end of the day - the success of that appointment will be the overriding factor in us getting on the right track again. im glad its not me who has to make the choice - nevermind actually try to get the bugger through the door

Many would say you don't spend that much money to do nothing with the club. Ashley obviously makes some of his money from shirt sales so obviously if he can make Newcastle United everyones second favourite like in the past then he will get further shirt sales beyond the fans. It is certainly a long way off a present but there really does need to be something big to give a big lift in optimism and building for the future riding on the back of it.
