Chelski’d
Well we gone done didn’t we and certainly no help from the laughable referee Bennett who decided to neglect the fact there was in fact two football teams. His decision to retake a free kick for encroachment yet still only count out 8 yards clearly at the 2nd attempt…
Had we taken our chances when on top during the first half it could well have been a different game. 2 great chances falling to Owen who today miss fired. Chelsea did well to take him out of the match in a 2nd half in which they dominated early on.
I don’t know what it is but this season I would rather see Manure win the league rather than Chelsea who I seem to dislike even more now with the awful antics of their players (John Terry) and drab football style which seems a more advanced pile of cack that big headed sell promoting Allardyce served up. BTW whoever put him on Sky Sports wants sacked for insulting the Geordie faithful by putting him in that seat – I was totally turned off in the bar after the game as a chorus of boo’s rang around.
We certainly missed Viduka 2nd half so anyone who says that a striker is not a priority in the summer is deeply mistaken. A player such as Ashton or even Crouch would make a great addition to the squad and now that the sale of Ameobi should be happening – it needs be as early as possible.
We lost the game in the 2nd half based on our bench simple as. Smith on for Viduka, Duff on for Geremi and Zog who’s stock has fallen so much on for Enrique all did nothing to help our game only make it disfunction. Keegan says he is happy with the squad… don’t read too much into that.
We need 3-4 quality signings as well as some squad signings with certain personel going out the other way. If I were KK and knowing certain players are impossible to get near in terms of signing – I would make plays for Bentley and Arteta who are proven in the EPL.
There are plenty good quality signings we could make to our squad to get us up to a position/area we need to be next season then improve on the squad the following summer be adding to what we have already signed with hopefully the enticement of Europe.

No shame in losing to a team so expensively assembled. Shame though as we gave them a great game in the first half from what I heard on the radio (was stuck in the studio as ever!).
You’re completely right about Viduka, he’s a very intelligent player and adds so much – problem is we can’t build around him as he’ll be out half of the season. So yes, a Crouch or Ashton would be a brilliant signing. And as Wes said on the thread below, Smith really adds nothing. I honestly see no place for him at the club next season I’m afraid – great, hard-working, honest lad, but he’s lost whatever he used to have.
I agree that we need at least 4 quality signings, and a few more to fill the gaps that will be created by the inevitable “showing of the door” to players like Rozenhal, Ameobi, maybe Emre and Smith, almost certainly N’Zogbia – along with Carr, Troisi and Ramage who have all been told today that they aren’t being offered new contracts. That’s 6-8 players from the first team squad (and fringes).
We keep being linked with some exciting, top class players – good to see, we all want KK to aim as high as possible, which I’m certain is exactly what he’ll do…

This is the team for the masters – brings back a few memories!! haha. Tommy Wright/Pavel Srnicek – John Beresford – Brian Kilcline – Robbie Elliott – Lee Clark Ruel Fox – Steve Howey – Philippe Albert – Ian Bogie – Temuri Ketsbaia – Nikos Dabizas. I guess we will see a bit of the passion we used to know.

I think we have to read between the lines on a lot of comments atm. Its a mixture of lower fans expectations to remove pressure and lowering asking prices on inflated players when we show our hand of interest. You don’t go bidding £18million on Modric and offering better financial packages than Spurs if you don’t have much money to spend in the transfer market.

Good point Toon (I’ve just noticed it’s ToonRobbyBobson, not the other way around. Observation isn’t my strongpoint!). There’s obviously money there, and the three/four big signings could be relatively big money. I still think we’ll miss out on the top players more often than not as we kinda have to wait for the big boys to make their choices first…
As for the Masters, I’m going I think! Rather a defensive squad there? Pity Beardsley isn’t there too.

Since when was Nikos Dabizas a defender?

Wes – haha…thanks for the chuckle. I loved some of those old boys…may not have been world shakers but they played hard and that’s all we ask for sometimes.
Toonrobbybobson I think you are right about reading between the lines… but I think finally we have a team in management that is looking at long term goals rather than just the immediate impact of a big name player. While we may get a higher priced player they will not just spend randomly.
I really think we will be in the running for Sol to see if we can convince him to play for us for the next 2 years (although I doubt he will as he wants to play in Spain – but he would be free). I also think Dunne will be getting approached and possibly Crouch (although he may be priced to high for what we will want to pay for him)- not sure that Duff will leave as he is quality and Keegan has started working with him to bring him back into the team as a impact player. And I think that will leave the door open for a big priced midfield player. Not sure who but it will be a creative player who is quick. Really only see 4 players coming in and about 4 leaving.
Well there’s my 2 cents!

Any player which goes out we have to add 4 more to their replacements coming in. That has to happen. Yes shocked you just spotted my name. It was based on Sir Bobby always getting his names the wrong way around.
What a guy! He was fantastic. Im unsure on Duff. I thought great when we signed him but he has never looked right. Real shame. In terms of reading between the lines for us – for every one fan who does there will be 1000 who got off it that we dont sign this that and the other… It will all happen we just have to be patient.

I’ve always held wor Bobby in the highest regard. I really liked him as England anager and he should have stayed on longer in that position. That side would wipe the floor with todays shambles. It’s a tragedy for us that he didn’t follow his heart and come to NUFC when KK left the first time. Imagine that?? That was the measure of the man though being loyal to his contract. I love that story about Shola Ameobi in the England camp; “Your name’s a bit of a handful son, what does Bobby call you?” Shola: ” Carl Cort”. Duff would potentially work better in a 442 if he can get an good understanding with Enrique and (new) midfielder. I think he has some good football in him still but he needs the right mix and momentum.
Thought he was possibly one of our better players a few times when we were playing badly as a team. Wouldn’t loose much sleep if he left but I’d like to keep him if zoggy leaves/carries on behaving like he is.

hahaha – love that Sir Bobby used to call Ameobi Carl Cort… I do have to say for all the flack Ameobi has taken he has been a good back up player – I personally think he should stay as that but as a player I can see why he would not. Then again look at Man U’s baby faced assassin?! Well Just had to say something due to the Bobby comment – we certainly had good times under his management.

Bobby was simply a Legend fullstop. I hold him and KK in high regard. Yeah Bobby was the name remixer! Everyone loved his interviews as you just didnt know what he was going to come out with. Ameobi has stayed still for years. Hes all arms and have never learned not to use them on players it makes it too easy for referees. Hes another player thats been around thru too many managers. We need some freshening up.
