I think Wes has summed it up in his final sentence.

"Bottom line though is we are in the crap because of off the field activity and he is the owner."

Whoever owns the club if a decision comes from the top which effects the next line in command (directors/manager) then its shit which belongs at his doorstep. He brought them in and agreed to the structure which has caused the mess. I think Mike Ashley wants the continental approach and we would take that based on what we've said on this site in the past. BUT... Done properly it has not! You cannot have a manager not just KK who does not have final say! For an idiot with no experience to justify it holding a role whereby he walks all over the manager is incorrect. Thats MA's fault! Take it or leave yes Mike Ashley has put a sizeable amount of money into the club but that clearly now has been to get it back out at a profit. £50 million debt he paid off was for the stadium. Forgive me if im wrong but these days a stadium like ours would likely cost £500 million to build. Its hardly a bad move? I do agree we were up the shit though and he solved it. BUT you cannot see how a fan he states he is... and a sports businessman could not spot the holes in the squad which were pointed out by who should have been his head man on football matters - that we needed strengthening especially at left back. Its already cost us in 3 games this season. To sell a player for £12 million and no real replacement? Im sorry but completely wrong and it shows up alot for what is going on behind the scenes. I agree we have to support and back the team I always will and was shown up at the end of the game with my father on Match Of The Day looking depressed... lol. BUT I don't agree with how the club is being ran. Once again off the field has unravelled the good work being done on it and probably set ourselves back another 18 months unless huge changes are made. TBH it could be far greater than 18 months. MA once again has fooked up and put this club in a serious state of limbo which could cost us our Premier League status. That isn't an understatement niether. MA could find himself trying to peddle a Championship club rather than a Premier League club. Then there is the small matter of seriously pee'd off players who could quite easily all hand in transfer requests come January. What the fans now have to do is support the team on that pitch 110% and make sure that on the field is not effected. We've made our point now we have to do what we do best and support the Black and White cause for its long term survival and that means making Newcastle United a good investable option by getting results on the pitch.

I've no issues with MA the man. I agree wholeheartedly about the buying policy although I have been one to advocate trying to also grab some good value experience when it was available. I just don't see how someone with his brains could not see this train wreck on the horizon with the very idea of Wise arriving in that capacity. No matter how good a job that team did it was ALWAYS going to disgruntle Keegan. In terms of wanting charge of his own destiny he is without equal thoughout his whole career both playing and in management. He must have known the emotion that would follow Keegans appointment and his number one priority should have always been from that moment to keep him at the club for at least 3-4 seasons. He has failed at that and this is where we end up. If it came to light that KK mislead MA in the beginning, simply wanted Berbatov type signings and then threw his dummy out the pram over that then yes, that would change things but I get the feeling that something as simple as signing a decent left back would have gone a long way.

In a perfect world I'd like to see MA stay if he think he has what it takes to make NUFC a succesful operation in its own right rather than simply as the play thing of a some eastern squillionaire. Plucking hard on the heart strings of a club like this is very dangerous business though as I'm quite sure he has learned. Bottom line though is we are in the crap because of off the field activity and he is the owner.

I think I'm the only one on Tyneside that thinks this way, but I have to say I think MA has been harshly done by here. The Keegan issue was a big mistake. Wise had too much power and Keegan wanted more players than he recieved. However I don't think it was malicious on MA's part. And the fact is, Ashley's business plan was both sensible and as generous as we can expect of him. The idea of buying in young players instead of established stars is completely right.

Besides, what does the future hold now? Watching the fans try to lynch a club owner who has put in a sensible business plan would hardly attract me to buy a club if I was a multi-billionaire. I'd have to be stupid to assume that there was no way I'd suffer the same fate. Because that's the problem - are we, as Newcastle United fans, ever going to be happy? Because with so many clubs now owned by ridiculously rich men, can ANYONE guarantee to spend what it takes to buy us some silverware? And would it really be worth anything if it was bought for us by some guy that has never even seen a photo of Newcastle before now?

There appears to be little substance to anything regarding a new manager as yet which does back up what you're saying. I hope that's the case aswell as I'm not exactly inspired by the managerial rumours.

As far as I am concerned nothing has changed here! He's released this statement to a). appease the fans for the time being b). save face a bit with his cockney buds c). drum up interest in he market and still try pick it at a high asking price as though his product isn't damaged. Whatever happens I think its going to be sold in the next few weeks as ive heard Hughton is in charge for a couple of weeks.
