Is This The Lowest?
MANCHESTER UNITED 6 – 0 NEWCASTLE UNITED
Apart from the amount of time Ronaldo spent on the ground, particularly poor decisions of the officials and poor kicking of Shay Given – Man United were by far and away the better team (in the second half).
Whether or not the wrongly ruled out goal in the first half from Michael Owen that would have put us 0 – 1 who knows what would have happened. Maybe we still would have gotten beat but by quite a large margin who knows?
I for one am incredibly low even though I expected in reality for us to get beat. A scoreline which to an extent slightly flatters but slightly doesnt… if that makes sense? It certainly shows the gap in quality and the gulf we have to try and close over the coming years for whoever the next manager is.
Its going to take a number of years but I have to say personally I am starting to warm to the idea of Shearer being the next manager. In many ways there will never be a better time for him to take over.
Well I am now going to try cheer myself up in some way… Any suggestions to makemehappy@newcastleunitedblog.co.uk

well this shows that money needs to be invested into the squad and we need a great manager not some “potential young wenger” or some crap like that simply coz we will be in the championship if that happens…. we need someone who is bigger than the name shearer to shut the press up—–

I have had a few people suggest a team of people with Shearer who can relate to the geordie public. The papers today even suggest Shearer and Keegan but I would guarantee throwing into the mix Rob Lee and Warren Barton.

Well, after hours of texts from so-called mates taking the piss (and some a little nastier) I switched my phone off………… but not before “advising” them that the result wouldnt have been any different with Big Sam there.
Horrible, horrible result, but……………. at least it can only be uphill from here?
Had Owens goal stood we may have had a different game. There’s nothing like taking the lead against the odds, run of play and expectations to boost a teams confidence. Heads drop, concentration wanes and you get hammered.
I have to confess to feeling fairly low. These are dark times and we are gonna have to bear the brunt of the media’s attacks. I’m being very selective over what i read, liston to or watch. There’s some complete b’stard journalists out there, and our current situation is bringing out the worst of them.
The latest talk is Mark Hughes for manager. Not sure thats the right appointment either tbh…..

Im totally against Mark Hughes getting it. Its a sidewards step verging on backwards. We have a chance to create SOME momentum… We fudged it up from looking professional. The only way now is a bid for a good european name such as Van Gaal, Scolari or Benitez (shakey ground at liverpool) than can attract the players or the partnership of Shearer/KK to generate a buzz and ride it for as long as possible. I don’t think Shearer is a bad choice in all honesty. Big shoulders, sure of himself and a geordie who knows the polictics and the fans thoughts. Shearer has a good knowledge and knows alot of high profile people in the game who respect him. He’ll instantly try to ignite Owen like Robson did with him when Gullit was ditched. Hes learned from some of the best and worst. Might take years but he’ll be given it. Expectations are certainly at their lowest so there is never a better time – for once I agree with Alan Hanson. KK aint ruled it out niether. Journalists out there atm are vultures and most of the time they full of shit. We need some positivity around our club and a good european name or Shearer/KK will bring that. KK only been out the game 3 years and coming home to Newcastle I am sure he’d love another crack at winning something. I think Shearer would take alot more to break mentally than Keegan did. Hes too cock sure in a professional way in his ability. Perhaps he can turn into the geordie special one and i’d certainly prefer to give Shearer 10 years over anyone else. BUT only if we can’t get a european name.
