Keegans Conference
So what did you think of Kevin’s first conference since coming back?
I for one was certainly impressed and had me iching to get to the game tomorrow for the first time in a long time… (apart from Wednesday night). Even though we are down to the bare bones I see us getting the result and thats what King Kev brings - ‘Optimism’. He certainly had bags of that but what was evident was how he controlled it. I think that perhaps the break from football has done him the world of good. He certainly is a positive chap and it cannot help but rub off on all around him - players, staff and fans!
We always get knocked for saying we are a big club! We are! Today was certainly evidence of that. The interest was amazing. The press/media were desperate and hung on his every word. I for one don’t think Capello had that big an audience at his conference. If it was possible they could have filled the stadium just to say hello to him. That doesn’t happen anywhere else in the world!
Its times like this you are proud to be a geordie. Keegan ignites fans and not just locally but around the world. Now we’ll see those fellow magpie tops when on holiday and we’ll be chuffed to speak to one another trying to contain our excitement again… ‘Oh did you catch the score? Who scored?”.
Fantastic…
I am so renewed. Yes we won’t win the league this season… next season… may take 10 years and a manager after Keegan. But hes back to put us on the right track again because we have been heading to nowhere for too long.
The future is bright… the future is Black and White.

Take a look at our wilderness years…
McKeag et al kept us in the doldrums, then Sir John Hall revived our fortunes and we flourished. Then Freddy Shepherd came and we went through managers (and money) like nobodies business. Now Mike Ashley is here…..
I think this has alot to do with the perception of Newcastle as a big club, or not, by outsiders.
I’m not a Geordie and tbh have no connection with the city other than my love of the team. Before anyone mis-labels me, I’ve supported Newcaslte Utd since I knew what football was (can remember Alan Kenedy being sold - just about) and aside from the original Keegan era this is the most excited I’ve been.
Can honestly say that I’m jealous of you guys, and if I could I’d be in SJP with ya!!

Hey certainly won’t knock any fan wherever they are! We have fans worldwide and I hope the club can grow that! No knocking of whos the better fan here… certainly not. We are all equal in that we support Newcastle United. We all bleed black and white. When I came out the ground the other day I was saying in football its amazing what a week does. The last home game in the premier league we’d come away from no one was talking, no smiles, was so depressing, didnt even feel like a drink! Coming out of that game was a different kettle of fish altogether. There is positivity surrounding the club and no 0-0 draw with Bolton was gonna take that away. Ashley as far as I am concerned is better than the previous regime and its good hearing from KK who wears his heart on his sleeve stating that Ashley could be the best Chairman in English football. If KK is happy with the guy saying he has no ego that fab. I certainly prefer our situation than Liverpools at present. I feel sorry for them. We’ve been lucky to get a guy that does seem to care. I love the fact he wears a toon top and its great to see him at every game! I also love the fact he’s been in the crowd. Shows he aint up himself and the way they are wanting kids at the ground with the cheap season tickets, free cup ticket schemes, free name prints on tops, all these things are great ideas. I think they are turning the club into a friendly club again with the right face of football!
