Managerial Roundup
Houllier – Apparently a none starter and is likely to stay where he is.
Shearer – Doesn’t believe they want him but would be more than willing to do it and thinks capable of turning fortunes around.
Hughes – All gone a bit quiet here and is looking more and more unlikely while he concentrates on the world class signing of Amdy Faye.
Mourinho – Has his eye set on a bigger job in Spain or Italy.
Deschamps – New favourite after saying the job would be exciting and would like Gianfranco Zola as his assistant. Has reached Champions League final with Monaco and gained promotion back to Serie A with Juventus.
Van Gaal – A bit quiet but apparently in the running to be approached if not been approached already.
Harry Redknapp – No chance for delboy.
Kevin Keegan – Apparently likely to be interviewed.
Rafa Benitez – Needs to leave Liverpool.

Where did you hear Keegan was going to get an interview? Apparently some guy called Jose Antonio Camacho, the Benfica boss… Never heard of him I must admit. Admittedly the reports are described as “outlandish”, but who knows? Part of me has given up second-guessing, I’m just glad that they’re looking far and wide for the next manager, so at least we know when they decide upon one they’ve not left any stone unturned. I must admit though that I really hope there’s a role for Shearer. I honestly think he could become a great manager for us one day and if anyone can motivate the team at half time when we’re losing a big game, it’d be him.
