Official: Chris Mort Stands Down
Its official now that Chris Mort has parted company with Newcastle United, heading back to his previous job at Freshfields.
Chris Mort I think did a decent job to settle the club down during his reign and to get to know fans. He took on board some of our thoughts with regards to the singing section for the start of next season at St. James Park.
It was always a temporary measure that Mort would be Chairman as he minded the business while understanding exactly how the business ran. That information has been passed on to Ashley and Llambias the new Managing Director.
It will be interesting now to see whether a year of business review starts to see some action in the transfer market to help Kevin Keegan gain some sort of much needed improvement in the new season.
Its certainly been boring for domestic football fans of late with the current ongoing Euro tournament…

Mort did really well for us, particularly when you realise he has little or no experience in this field. A very talented and intelligent guy. He’ll hopefully always be welcome at SJP…

I agree he seems very professional and you would think this in itself wouldn’t be too much to ask from a chairman but when you think of Fat Freddie, you just think of a shonky wide boy glutton down the lap dancers with his fat wallet.
Mort was very refreshing.

Yes very professional and likeable guy. Don’t get me wrong its was business at the end of the day with him and everyone knew that with him but he seemed a gentlemen and thus gained alot of respect. You wouldn’t catch him in a Range Rover on youtube…

LOL Wes. Thats great news though. But be happier when its signed. Owen is a great signing in itself again but we need some good players around him. Hes gets service he scores simple as. Hes our only world class player.
