I'd LOVE to see him at Sunderland... They can have him and Ameobi up front. Straight swap for Jones - we'll even chuck in a million or two. We get a great striker, they score three goals all season. Brilliant!

I think he'd have to go to premier league so they can afford his wages. I cant see rangers affording £60k a week. Some dumb lower club in the PL will pay :)

£3m would be a bit of a gutter, that's a lot to lose in one season. Still, there's no point sending good money after bad - just get rid of him, so yeah, anything over £3m would be acceptable... I reckon a spell at Rangers, as is the current rumour, would be a great move for him.

Any offer over £3million... We'll stuggle with his wages tho. Hes on a fortune so its hard to get a club to take him. I disagree tho I think we are in need of a good strong forward who can play week in week out. Viduka dont play enough so hes going to be playing the odd game here and there due to his injuries but thats not good enough for us. Its a great option from the bench when available but hes not reliable enough for a full season.

ok fair enough... but what kind of money would you chaps accept as a decent offer? remember that we paid 6 mill for him a season ago.. if we can get 4.5 or better i'd be happy to flog him off.. otherwise keep him here as the back up.. and Wes, i could only get to see the chelsea game highlights, so if he was a useless as you say.. maybe 4.5 is asking a bit much :( any offer over 3 then?? feels like we just throwing money away..

I agree. Let Smith and Ameobi move on, their careers are going nowhere here. Get someone like Ashton in to take over from Viduka, with Viduka providing an option from the bench (when fit). When he isn't, Carroll can cover.

Thing is, attack is the least pressing area in terms of new signings...

I think Smith has to move on. Smith would be best in a just above relegation team looking to stabilise next season... like Sunderland. He'd get games and might do better. At the toon he has too many better ahead of him. As for Viduka we need cover if not Viduka being the cover/different option to a main man. Ameobi is moving on and we need a good quality strong forward for other strikers to play off. We have already been linked to 2 in Gomez and Gomis. We will be buying youthful talent though with hunger and something to prove rather than already done it wage chasers.

Aright snick? I shared your view on Smith as the others here will tell you but that last Chelsea game really nailed it for me. He was up front (his true position) all second half and wasn't part of one succesful move if I remember right. Couldn't hold the ball up, couldn't get himself in good positions, basically he was 100% ineffective and completely bullied. Yes it was Chelsea but this is the EPL and we need people who can at least be some sort of threat. He is a likable character these days since you get the feeling he would run into a brick wall all afternoon if you asked him to. If we get a decent offer he needs to move on I think for his own sake as well as ours.

hey gents, been a while since i posted.. just been reading the news, and it seems that we are constantly being linked to strikers.. why would we need strikers.. we currently have 1st team strikers.. owen, martins, viduka, smith, carroll and ameobi. Are we getting rid of some? personally i cant see us getting viduka back to full fitness, especially hard this season, and the operation he is going to have(or already had) There has been alot of talk that martins and owen are going to various other clubs in the EPL, what are your thoughts?? I wouldnt be upset if we didnt get rid of smith, i think he's an ok squad player, and will help when we have injuries next season.. Anyways as for Peter Taylor.. i think it'd be great to have him in the youth setup, i thought Glen Roeder did well at teh academy when he was here.. But i think with his experience in a couple of years we may be able to find our own geordie ronaldo.. it could happen :)... anyways looking forward to more media madness as the transfer window opens.. all the speculation etc etc.. hopefully we can talk about the in's and out on this page very soon.. for the first time in a couple of seasons i am very very excited to see what happens..
