Well that’s certainly what some of our players should be doing come the end of the season… No guts, no desire, no leadership - what you would give for Shearer right now as our No. 9.
In reality I don’t think the players nor the fans expect anything from Anfield. Its hard enough to go there when we are in flying form (struggle to think back to when we had that).
We certainly didnt carry over the form from the Rovers game last week. I think in part some of that was tactics as I believe we went with a view to holding til about the 60th and hoying Oba on to mix things up. Unfortunately it didn’t work out.
As soon as a crack appeared it flooded… Unfortunate for Enrique as 99,999 out of 100,000 that would have ended up cleared. That just sums our luck up. They will still feeling sorry for themselves which you can’t do and got hit with the 2nd to be a bit like Enzo was on the Saturday evening fight. Liverpool did the job when they realised they could wrap it up in 2 mins.
If we’d made it to half time… who knows but its behind us. Now the season starts. We win it from here we stay up. We have our winnable games run now where we have to be competing for every ball with desire to win. Can this bunch of repetitive losers do it? Who knows… Its yet to be seen. I personally am worried we don’t have the battlers for a relegation fight whereas teams like Reading, Wigan and Birmingham seem to have it and if we leak points to the Mackems at St.James Park they’ll have their tails up as well. We need to stop the rot.
THERE ARE NO MORE EXCUSES NOW - PLAYERS MUST DELIVER!

I still hold faith it can be done. The fixture list has been punishing since KK took over. Those Arsenal fixtures really hit some real damage to the minds of the players after the buzz of K’s arrival. The Blackburn game showed me that they have the ability to pull some points on the board. Some better finishing from Owen (which you would have put money on) and that would have been won.
As you say we now have a patch of winnable games which we haven’t really had yet. It’s been a case of one tentative step forward and then getting a pasting of the top teams to step back a few. Fans need to make the noise levels go nuclear.

Now St. James Park really does have to become a fortress for the rest of the season. Fans really need to get behind it now. They’ve had their knocks now hopefully they can regroup and realistically start taking some points and beat those around them. If they don’t look at themselves and think they are better than those around them then we will be playing Panda Pop footy next season.

I think - I hope - the players will come out of the blocks next monday at full speed as Keegan will let them know that if they give it everything against Birmingham they’ll get the win they’ve been after. Only problem is, if Birmingham hold on and then hit back and win, the players will lose all confidence. I honestly think the next game and the following one at Fulham are massive - not only in terms of point but in terms of the players’ confidence. If it falls further now then it might simply be a terminal decline.
I aslo agree that the teams around us will feel that we’re there for the taking now… Either way we’ve got just over a week to get the players rested, trained and up for it before a run of games against smaller teams. Obviously these teams are up for the fight but who isn’t - there’s genuinely no excuses now.

“Panda Pop footy” - that, my friend, is an all time classic !!!!!
Well, we’re almost in “Last Chance Saloon”. We need results in these next 2 or there is no saving us. Liverpool was never gonna be 3pts for us, and anyone realistic knows this, but as you say, these next few games should be winnable. We have the firepower, we have enough creativity…… just gotta keep the ball at the opposite end to our defense !!!!!

I’m afraid I’ve got a horrible feeling about the Birmingham game… As the week goes on I just feel increasingly sick… Still, as i say, there’s no excuses from now on. Unless we get AT LEAST 3-4 points from the next two games heads need banging together and no player/coach/manager is exempt…

Im holding faith. Possibly its a case of the players needing to see they in the shit before things get better. I think they are more than capable of doing a job against Birmingham. If the play like they did against Blackburn against the Brums I hold alot of hope. We’ll know the way they play against Birmingham what to expect in the run in til the end of the season. They aren’t too good to go down though. League never lies.

Chaps, its Birmingham, its not the mighty arsenal, we mustnt give them any respect, we must just go out there and whip their asses. i know they beat spurs 4 zip, but seriously, spurs were still hungover from the chelsea league cup victory. we need to know that we are the better team, we need to get back the geordie confidence, and by smacking the brummies will bring back that confidence we are sorely lacking. Liverpool game was expected, shame about the fluke goal, nothing enrique or harper could do about that. WE CAN BEAT BIRMINGHAM, EASILY.

Thats the spirit!
If they can perform this one game and dig deep they’ll go on stronger! I just hope they realise that but I think part of the problems are players know they wont be there next season and simply dont care.
