Tony Blair has apparently confided in some of his close friends that he thinks what Newcastle needs is a mediator to sort out the mess between Ashley and the supporters. He thinks that if the fans could show some remorse for the way they have hounded Ashley and Ashley could apologise for the problems he has caused and make a clear statement directly to the fans that he wants to sort the mess out, the following could be achieved. 1) a new manager could be found, who would not see St James as a career graveyard. 2) The team could get some stability and play to their strengths, which would lift them out of danger. 3) Ashley would be able to sell the club quicker and get some value for his shares, which at the moment are plummeting in value.

Blair thought that someone like Bobby Robson who has the support of everyone in the game would be a good mediator as he would fairly reflect what is good for the club and is trustworthy. His friends stated the obvious that Robson is too ill to take on such a task, but suggested Blair should do it himself, as he is a lifelong fan of the club, and an act like this would only help his own public profile. Apparently Blair was not completely adverse to the idea, but would need to be approached to do it.

I think the club will be sold within 6 weeks. I think there is parties but I really don't expect to see Nigerians in control of the club. I think there are a fair few interested parties just no one showing their hand. Its a catch 22 if ur buying. You can wait for a fire sale but that means if u buy it then its harder to turn it around or sort it out quickly but u end up paying a bit more? Its a risky business. I wouldnt want the Nigerians because it sounds like a huge group of people and that makes it a mess plus you don't know how much they have to support the purchases of players. I think that one is a no no. Its likely to be one weathly person id imagine. I still put my hat on Anil Ambani. Hes a Newcastle supporter and is the 6th richest man in the world. I would much rather take him over anyone else. Whoever comes in though fans have to accept this is big 'business' the key word being football is very much a business now. I was quite happy with where things were going apart from the transfer policy with KK in charge. We were heading in right direction slowly. All we need is KK back in charge and time/patience. Id be happy instantly if Keegan came back under new ownership.

What you making of this now Toon? In the hands of a bank to resolve the sale, nigerians sniffing around and not a lot else? Better the Devil you know? This is getting out of hand, we really are on a knife edge here.

I still hold out that KK could come back with the backing of a new owner. That would hopefully overnight lift the doom and gloom on somewhere near the right track. I blame Ashley. I do think KK is capable of throwing his toys out of his pram but its Ashley's ship. He could solve this now if he intends to sell the club by relieving Wise etc from their positions and bringing back Keegan in charge. What difference it make now? Hes selling? Clearly his ideas dont work. His favoured club spurs arent exactly doing well niether are they? Admit your wrong instated Keegan and sell the club then...

Maybe he knows something we don't but in the abscence of clarity I've lost some respect for KK . Even though I think he had good reasons he knows he had the support of the fans. Dropping the job at this point has basically achieved the maximum payload on the team and the fans. I thought he would have some fight in him to prove his point. It's all very sad.

We're stuffed. I can't see a way out certainly this season the players will be completely drained mentally even if KK found a way back. After having such a bad season last year and then seeing some light at the end of the season for all this to happen is just too much. I couldn't care less what Mikes plan was he needed to keep KK for this season at the very very least. It really was not an option to lose the manager he appointed that fast. He has managed to convert himself from pretty well respected in my mind to complete muck.
