Keepers - Given, Harper - we're ok there.. two of the best prem keepers. Fullbacks - Beye, Enrique - no cover? on either flank, one injury and we're pretty much screwed! Ok, we do have Geremi, who can cover RB and RW. Centre Halfs - Taylor, Colocinni, Bassong, Edgar - very light if either Taylor or Colo are injured. Centre Mids - Butt, Guthrie, Barton and Nacho, dont know a hell of alot about Nacho, he could even be a wing? But we have four players there, and enough cover, just not too sure how many goals we are gonna get out of them. Guthrie seems to have an eye for goal.. but we are yet to see it on a Magpie shirt. Wings - Duff, Zogs, Jonas and Geremi - Although Zogs can cover LB (cough) i prefer him up and attacking, Jonas can be the right wing, and duff can slot in that free role, we just need to see some form from him, but again with the amount of injuries - we look a bit thin without milner. Strikers/Fwds - Owen, Martins, Viduka, Xisco, Smith, Ameobi, Carroll - well we have alot - but in all honesty three of those are not up to standard, Smith cannot score, Ameobi cannot get out the way, and Carroll is still learning. I havent even heard of Xisco, but if he is big and strong, and can distribute, and score goals, then he is perfect. So if we get Dukes fit again we are fine in the strike department. Looking at that i think we are still shy an attacking midfielder, a right wing, a left back and an experienced CD. Nothing we can do about that now however... but still a capable squad, with a more than capable manager, and very loyal fans! we need to fill the stadium and make SJP a fortress that no one wants to come and play in! i reckon we could aim for a top 8 finish, maybe even sneak into the UEFA cup. Hopefully we can have a great cup run, and wouldnt it be sweet if we could beat Spurs in the next round of the carling cup! Not dissapointed because I was expecting a superstar; far from it but I thought over the summer we'd have been able to bring in a few more of the quality we have signed. That would have had me happy but I can still see the likes of Smith/Ameobi getting a game. Still got problems at left back, hope Enrique has been getting his strength back and stays fit as Zogs is just not a defender. Hopefully Hull will provide some cheer!
