Well the 0 - 0 draw with Bolton brought quite a few people back down to earth and in the long term that was probably best. It was certainly still one hell of a home coming with many geordies donning the ‘Return of the king’ hats. Im sure some will return with them in the next home game!

Bolton came with a game plan to ruffle some feathers, stick most men behind the ball and time waste at EVERY opportunity much to the frustration of all fans. Alan ‘Willy’ Wiley who in many peoples eyes had a poor game of not doing a thing about it and accepting back chat from many Bolton players. There was certainly a few claims for penalties.

Chances were few and far between but we had Given to thank at the closing stages against J Lloyd Samuel.

All in all reading between the lines Keegan has not had a lot of time to work with these team and it won’t be overnight. They did look tired after exploits with Stoke midweek when down to 10 men. As the game wore on you began to see less Allardyce and more Keegan in the team as he contributed from the sidelines as we got a bit more width. We certainly still went narrow on many ocassion which was right up Bolton’s street.

A few weeks time and we may not be able to see the Allardyce factor in the team - certainly if Keegan gets his 3 signings in which based on the weakness of our squad at the moment is a minimum. One of those signings needs to be a creative player through the middle and im sure KK will be looking for one.

Hopefully now the media have packed their bags and can leave us to it. Had KK not been here I really think we would have lost that game but at least we got a few things out of it. A chance for KK to see the team in action under him. A clean sheet - WOW! A point. A reminder to Ashley that he does need to invest in a fair few players. Hopefully this is the start of the building work.
