Wood ‘Gallow’ Gate
UPDATE III: APPARENTLY ARSENAL BOUND…
UPDATE II: APPARENTLY NOW REJECTED US FOR SPURS
UPDATE: APPARENTLY REJECTED SPURS TO JOIN NEWCASTLE
Could Woodgate be KK’s first major first team signing during his 2nd spell as Newcastle United manager?
According to rumours going about at the moment Kevin is keen on bringing him back. Now I must say he was simply one of the best in the world when he was fit and playing for Newcastle. But what about his sickness record? He is playing games for the smog’s but is apparently fed up of being there already.
Would Woodgate be a step in the right direction or a backwards step? It could be the case that buying players in the January transfer window is not an easy task by any means. Perhaps our bigger signings have to wait until the summer?
What do you think?

If Woody can get over hs injury problems he’d be a brilliant signing. If not, which I expect to be the case, he’d simply be keeping Viduka (who I want rid of) company in the physio room. I’m still interested in Van Buyten, has he played well for Bayern?
Either way I keep hearing rumblings about Riise… I feel sorry for Enrique, the med players always seem to take a while to settle and I feel like he should come good given time. Even Ronaldo took time to settle for crying out loud… Having said that Riise is a good player, so who knows.
Plus we’re linked with Pandev from Lazio? Never heard of him but I keep hearing big, big things about him. Or Modric, who is also meant to be great. We’ll see…
As you say though, we’ll just bring in a few new faces, two or three at most, with the big purchases made in the summer.

Woody could be a good choice IF he can get over the injury problems.
Riise? Ask yourself this… Why would we want a player effectively rejected by a club 7 or 8 places above us, that the fans want rid of urgently? From what little we’ve seen of him, I thought Enrique looked pretty decent, considering his lack of games. Why waste our time (and money, coz his salary was made rather public) on Riise? The liverpool fans are always saying how shit he is recently. Lets go for someoen with some promise, not another player passed his prime that we end up paying over the odds for.

Rafa is intent on turning Riise into a defender apparently and not letting him go forward. Could just be full of crap though
Id still take him as we need another left back and if KK could get the best out of him brilliant. He might have got stale at Liverpool hes been there a long time. Change works sometimes.

With regards to Woodgate, i personally wouldnt buy him now in this window.. lets see if he makes the rest of the season without any serious injuries, and in the summer when KK does his squad overhaul we can see if we need him. I think KK needs this half of the season to check on the existing squad, see if players like Beye, Faye, Enrique, Barton, Smith are what he needs to bring Newcastle back. If he starts making wholesale changes now, without giving the guys a chance, its really such a waste of money. With regards to Riise, i have always felt he is underused at Liverpool, and very underrated, but agree that getting him will undermine Enrique’s development, I remember Asier Del Horno for Chelsea, also a spanish left back, and he wasnt given enough time to settle, i think we need to give the Bull a chance.
If we dont get anyone in this window it wont be a train-smash, as the squad (once the AFCON is complete) is big enough..

I still think one or two bodies is essential especially to make it look like KK has not failed with regards to the media. If we dont sign anyone imagine the media ‘KK fails again’ - the press will have a field day.
